SLIS Announce–L is the Department of Library and Information Sciences’ e-mail LISTSERV. It is an automatic message system that allows Department of Library and Information Sciences to send broadcast messages to each person who has elected to join the list. SLIS Announce-L is similar to a newsgroup or forum, except the messages are transmitted as e-mail, and are therefore only available to individuals who subscribe to the list.
This communication tool offers subscribers the opportunity to learn the latest news and receive important announcements. Many available professional job vacancies are communicated promptly through SLIS-Announce. Also, the LISTSERV provides an avenue for members to post comments, ask questions or request information. To make a LISTSERV request, contact the List Manager.
Join SLIS-ANNOUNCE-L, the Department of Library and Information Sciences' LISTSERV! It's easy. Just send an e-mail to listserv@unt.edu, leave the subject line blank, and type SUBscribe slis-announce-l your name in the body of the message.
To be removed from SLIS-ANNOUNCE-L, do NOT post a message to slis-announce-l@unt.edu asking to be removed. You must send a message to listserv@unt.edu, leave the subject line blank, and type SIGNOFF slis-announce-l in the body of the message.
SLIS-ANNOUNCE-L is a moderated LISTSERV. What this means is that any posting to the list will be held until the moderator of the list has approved the posting. Typically, posting to the list is restricted to faculty and staff.
All commands listed below should be sent to listserv@unt.edu with the subject line of the message blank and the command as the text of the message.
