dr. chandler with past presidents Dr. Yvonne Chandler has been elected to the Texas Library Association executive board as President-Elect. Dr. Chandler is an associate professor in LIS. Her research areas include legal information services, internet resources and services, and education for library and information services.

Priscilla Shontz

UNT alumna Priscilla Shontz, gave the lecture "Improving Your Odds: What You Can Do While You're in School" at the Houston All-School Day program on April 21.  Shontz is an author specializing in career management for information professionals. Her newest book What Do Employers Want? : A Guide for Library Science Students, co-authored with Rich Murray, will be published by Libraries Unlimited on May 28, 2012.

Angel Durr

Angel Durr, a library and information science master's student, presented the results of her research at the 2011 Texas Library Association conference on why ethnic minorities, especially African Americans, remain as paraprofessionals instead of pursuing graduate work in library science. Congratulations to UNT alums, Cheryl Rowan and Mark Phillips, for being named 2012 Library Journal Movers and Shakers. Cheryl currently works for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine - South Central Region, and Mark currently works for the UNT Libraries.

WISE: Summer 2012

The Medical Library Association featured Jodi Philbrick, assistant director of the Houston Program and course coordinator of the health informatics program,  in their January, 2012 MLA News publication.
